BACKGROUND: I graduated from Kent State University with a
BFA in Technical Theater (Scenic & Lighting Design). I've had a wide range
of job experiences that started with building and painting scenery for the
Colorado Shakespeare Festival in Boulder, Colorado and Long Wharf Theater
in New Haven, Connecticut.
After I moved to Florida in 1990, I spent several
years creating original designs for souvenir merchandise product lines
(mainly t-shirt designs). I developed some additional skills working for a
couple of theming companies, doing everything from producing marketing
materials to environmental design, web design, large format graphics,
scenic & prop design, and 3D modeling & animation. I spent some time working
in educational publishing, creating illustrations for children's books and
elementary/middle school textbooks. After that, I worked for a toy
company designing packaging, display and marketing materials, and writing and
illustrating instructions for craft kits.
I am currently working at an engineering
consulting firm, producing marketing materials which include: publication
graphics, brochures, presentation graphics, newsletters, and email blasts.
I'm always working on updating my skill set and am currently focused on
mastering web design, usability standards, XHTML, CSS, and Flash.
When I'm not designing, I enjoy riding my bike, doing DIY home improvement
projects and building things, and discovering new music. I host a local music
podcast called
Insomnia Radio Orlando.
